Directions to UTS

Train stations

UTS City Campus is right next to Central station, the hub of all train lines in Sydney, as well as Railway Square, a major bus interchange.
Kuring-gai Campus is close to Lindfield Station.

      City Circle (Railway Square; Pitt Street; Eddy Avenue; Chalmers Street), Haymarket, NSW 2000

      Central Station is the hub of the CityRail network. Not only is Central one of the largest railway stations in Australia, it is a key interchange point between buses, coaches, and trams. Central is the station closest to UTS at Broadway. Central station is also the location for the Central Light Rail station, the eastern terminus of the Metro Light Rail line in Sydney.

      To arrive at UTS City Campus, Broadway Precinct: After alighting at Central Station, take the eastern exits to Railway Square/George Street. Turn left at Railway Square and walk one block to the UTS Broadway Precinct located on the right.

      To arrive at UTS City Campus, Haymarket Precinct: Alight at Central Railway Station and take the eastern exits to Railway Square/George Street. Turn right at Railway Square, then left into Quay Street. City Campus, Haymarket Precinct is two blocks down Quay Street on the left.

      The Devonshire Street Pedestrian Tunnel is the underpass which enables pedestrians to access the eastern suburban trains section of the station from Railway Square and Elizabeth Street. The Ultimo-Pedestrian Network is the pathway to reach Central Station from the Haymarket Campus.

      Hay Street, Haymarket, NSW 2000

      Light Rail services operate between Lilyfield and Central Station via Rozelle, Glebe and Pyrmont. All Light Rail vehicles are wheelchair and pram accessible (some stations are only accessible using a lift).

      Paddy’s Markets and Central Station are the closest stops on the Light Rail service to UTS’s precincts Broadway and Haymarket.

      Hay Street, Haymarket, NSW 2000

      Monorail services travel between Darling Harbour, Paddy’s Markets, Chinatown, World Square, Galleries Victoria, City Centre, and Darling Park.

      Paddy’s Markets is the closest stop on the Monorail service to UTS’s precincts Broadway and Haymarket.

      Lindfield Avenue, Lindfield, NSW 2070

      Lindfield Railway Station is located on the North Shore Line in the suburb of Lindfield. It is about 30 minutes by train from the Sydney CBD. Ramps connect the overhead concourse with the streets on either side. Easy access lifts opened in 2009 to Platform 1 and the street, and to island Platform 2 and 3.

      To arrive at UTS Kuring-Gai Campus: Exit from Lindfield Station on the Pacific Highway side and turn right down Eton Road. The campus is adjacent to Film Australia at the end of Eton Road. It takes about 25 minutes to walk from the station to the University.

      Shorelink operates a bus service between Lindfield train station and the Kuring-gai Campus.

      George Street, Haymarket, NSW 2000

      Railway Square is located in the southern part of the Sydney CBD. Railway Square is dominated by the rising glass bus terminals structure, and by three sculpture light towers. Buses depart Railway Square Interchange to most parts of Sydney. Railway Square also provides access to Central Railway Station CityRail train services.

      The area is not a true square but is a confluence of Broadway, Lee Street, Pitt Street, and George Street. UTS and Central railway station are adjacent to Railway Square. One can reach Railway Square by way of the Devonshire Street pedestrian tunnel.

Carpooling

Carpooling can be a convenient, cost effective and environmentally sensitive way to travel to and from UTS.

You may choose your own arrangements or use the online carpooling program Jayride. UTS is a jayride member, making this a free service for students and staff. You can register as either a driver or passenger, for regular or one-off trips.

Bicycle parking

Bike racks and showers (see Access and amenities) are available at several locations on campus. UTS will not accept responsibility for theft or damage to personal property stored within the designated bike storage area or change rooms. UTS has put in place reasonable measures to minimise the incidence of theft or damage but cannot accept responsibility for these events should they take place.

The City of Sydney Council website and Bicycle New South Wales website also provide a wide range of information for cyclists.

      MPSH bicycle parking is accessed via the main entrance of the Sports Hall from level 1, Building 4 (off Harris Street). There are approximately 25 spaces for bicycle parking available.

      This new Haymarket bicycle storage facility is adjacent to Darling Drive. Students and staff wishing to use this bike storage area will firstly need to fill out a simple application form at the Activate UTS Hub in Building 5. Upon receipt of this application, the Security Office will issue a pin number to allow access to the facility.

      The Haymarket bicycle storage facility also includes change rooms, showers, a toilet, and secure lockers. Lockers will be allocated to bicycle riders, similar to the operation of the bike storage racks.

      UTS operates an underground commercial car park at the Broadway campus, located in Building 10, which offers discounted parking to students and staff of UTS.

      The Thomas Street InterPark car park opens from 6:30 am – 10:00 pm on weekdays during semester and 7:00 am – 10:00 pm on weekdays during non-semester. On Saturdays the car park is open from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

      The parking rates are as follows:

Campus shuttle bus

The courtesy campus shuttle bus service runs between the City and Kuring-gai campuses. It is free for all UTS students, staff, and visitors. The campus shuttle bus operates both during semester and non-semester times.

Security shuttle bus

Available to all UTS students and staff, this courtesy Security Shuttle Bus operates in the evenings between the City Campus and nearby student accommodation.

From Tuesday June 12 2012, the UTS Security Shuttle Bus Service has been EXTENDED to SEVEN NIGHTS A WEEK, from 6.30pm to 2.00am.
